Editorial Rating: Recommended
Bounce through three popular nightclubs
on a guided party bus.
The Background
This group favorite for sampling San Francisco
nightlife takes clubbing on the move and adds
personality to spare. A plush bus and sassy tour
guide await you and your friends with VIP entry
to three great clubs. Sit back and enjoy the banging
stereo, and leave the driving and entertainment
to the babes.
The Experience
The babes aren't your dates. Just fun-loving guides
who know the local scene and can help your group
make the most of a Saturday evening. After meeting
at a popular Union Square location, this five-hour
tour will take you from scene to scene in style--on
a 50-passenger luxury bus. Cover charges are included
in the cost of the tour, but the babes pick the
stops -- be sure and call ahead for the itinerary.

| "Sixty five
people - clothes crumpled, hair damp, make-up faded,
grins etched on our faces - now ooze from two slender
bus doors, like toothpaste from a tube. Members
of our party lean shoulder to shoulder, posing for
snapshots. Business cards are swapped. Hugs are
plentiful. The laughing never stops." The Press

| is San Francisco's
only known nightclub touring bus company. Pay owner
Paula Sabatelli $35 on any Friday or Saturday night
and you will frolic in four clubs and bars for four
hours. Transportation on a chartered bus and all
cover charges are included. Reservations are required,
and you must be at least 21. "One of the great
things is, you don't have to worry about drinking
and driving," says Sabatelli. "And once
you're on the bus, you get complete VIP
treatment. You don't have to wait in line
at the clubs, and you don't have some guy 10 years
younger asking for ID. The name is catchy, isn't
it?" says Sabatelli, who came up with the name
after she and two friends agreed to start the company.

| The bus affords a galloping glimpse into an anthropological
artifact known as San Francisco in the 90's, the end of the
continent near the end of the century. Should you wonder
what goes on after dark when the safe and sane are in bed, the
"Three Babes and a Bus, Inc." tour serves up a careful
slice of night life. San Francisco Chronicle- March, 1992 |

during an exceedingly boring meeting at work, I
fish into my jacket pocket for a pen and find instead
the little plastic kazoo. The Petricek sisters are
back in Nebraska. The Gilroys are in Washington
state. Dave Menache is probably in Berkeley. And
Shelleigh Aton is probably in Pacheco. I wonder
for just a second if they too are finding unexpected
kazoos tucked in jacket pockets. And I wonder what
they're thinking of that sweet, singular night when
the good life was just a bus stop away. San

| We've already noticed that people are curious
about the badges and the downright envious of the
door privileges we enjoy. For tonight at least,
no matter where we go, we are the upper caste."

", many San Franciscan's
do just that. Sabatelli says 50 percent of her customers
are Bay Area residents. Locals choose the Babes
for the same reasons tourists do: safety (many of
the city's best clubs are located in dubious neighborhoods);
no parking hassles, no expensive taxis; no door
charges and no waiting in line."

Bridget from Chicago:
I'm 23 years old, and I recently moved to San
Francisco. Where do you recommend I go for dining,
clubs, bars and shopping? As a resident,
you'll find some of the best places on your
own just by exploring the city's various nooks
and crannies. Some of our favorite places include
Kuletto's, in Union Square, for great Italian
food and P.J.'s Oyster Bed, a Mardi Gras-style
bar/restaurant that has the best oysters around.
Also, try the Bubble Lounge, a champagne bar
with light food. There are dozens of cool clubs
in the Bay Area. We recommend taking the Three
Babes and a Bus Tour, which gives you a whirlwind
tour of the best in nightlife. To purge that
shopping urge, try the Knob Hill district for
the best department stores. For real bargains,
take advantage of San Francisco's eclectic neighborhoods,
like Chinatown. Also, check out Fisherman's
Wharf--if you can fight your way through the
tourists.
Tommy from St. Louis, Missouri: I'm
going to San Francisco for New Year's Eve. Which
place will have the best party? For
the ultimate party in San Francisco, check into
Three Babes and a Bus--a party bus that takes
you to all the hottest bars in the Bay Area.
Your
ticket includes drinks, transportation and cover
charges for all the clubs. Oh, and did I mention
you get to hang out with party girls?
But call early, I'm sure space is going fast!
